What Is a Fujifilm RAF File?
A RAF file is a Fujifilm RAW photo. It stores the unprocessed sensor data from an X-series or GFX camera, including Fujifilm settings such as film simulation.

Open it in software that supports Fujifilm RAW, such as Photos or Lightroom. A RAF file is not a JPEG you can drop into every app.
The original file is also where film simulation and other MakerNotes live. Check those on the Mac before a conversion rewrites them. MSAM.media apps read that metadata locally and do not upload the photo.
