C2PA Content Credentials on Mac

Content Credentials (C2PA) are an emerging provenance layer. They do not replace day-to-day technical and descriptive metadata: shutter data, keywords, captions, and copyright notices still live in EXIF, IPTC, and XMP. Treat C2PA as complementary evidence when a file carries it—not as a substitute for your usual Mac inspection checklist.

On the Mac, start with what is actually present in the delivery file. JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, AVIF, MP4, and PDF are among the formats where provenance tooling is appearing, but writers and readers differ by version and vendor.
