Photoshop IRB & IPTC Metadata on Mac

Image Resource Blocks (IRB) are Photoshop’s long-standing container for ancillary data. News and agency pipelines still encounter IPTC-IIM living inside IRB even when XMP packets are also present. Mac inspection shows what Photoshop-era writers left behind before you clean an archive or hand off a composite.

Common places to look: PSD/PSB masters, JPEG proofs saved from Photoshop, TIFF intermediates, and some PNG/PDF exports. Do not assume XMP replaced IRB—many files carry both, and fields can disagree after round-trips.
